Earthquake early warning systems (EEWS) are lifesavers, providing crucial seconds for people to take cover or slow down moving vehicles. This talk delves into how EEWS work, the science behind them, and their potential to save lives and reduce earthquake damage. By analyzing arrival times and amplitudes, EEWS estimate earthquake magnitude and location, issuing warnings to potentially impacted areas before damaging S-waves arrive
