بر اساس آخرین بررسی نیچرایندکس که توسط موسسه نیچر منتشر می‌شود، مقالات چاپ شده در نشریات نیچر ایندکس در بازه زمانی ١ می ٢٠٢٣ تا ٣٠ آپریل ٢٠٢٤ ارزیابی شده و جمهوری اسلامی ایران در میان کشورهای جهان با ٣٤٠ مقاله در جایگاه ٣٠ جهان قرار دارد. در این گزارش، دانشگاه اراک رتبه ٢١ را در بین دانشگاه‌های جامع کشور کسب کرده است.

شایان ذکر است دانشگاه‌ها و موسسات پژوهشی دارای تحقیقات با کیفیت درزمینه‌های علوم زیستی، شیمی، فیزیک، علوم زمین، زیست محیطی و علوم پزشکی را مورد بررسی قرار داده است. نیچرایندکس مجموعه‌ای از ١٤٦ نشریه برتر در این حوزه‌ها را نمایه کرده است.

در این رتبه‌بندی علاوه بر تعداد مقاله، سهم موسسه در نگارش مقاله (با در نظر گرفتن نویسندگان سایر موسسات) و وزن حوزه موضوعی نیز لحاظ می‌شود. نیچر ایندکس که شاخصی از خروجی و همکاری پژوهشی با کیفیت در سطح جهانی است، به صورت ماهانه به روز رسانی شده و اطلاعات یک دوره ١٢ ماهه را بر روی وبگاه خود نمایش می‌دهد. دانشگاه اراک از ابتدای تاسیس تا کنون ١٧ مقاله در نشریات مورد تایید نیچر ایندکس چاپ کرده است که به شرح جدول زیر است:
